The Firm has experience in various methods of alternative dispute resolution. We have represented clients in arbitration, both domestic and foreign. This includes the Caribbean and the European Union.
The Firm's lawyers recently reversed an arbitration award by pursuing an appeal to the court system on the basis of bias. As a result, the client was able to avoid an adverse award and enter into a settlement agreement on significantly more favorable terms than those set forth in the reversed award.
The Firm actively mediates all of its pending matters when appropriate, taking into account the client's goals, the status of discovery in the lawsuit and the amount in dispute. In some cases, early mediation avoids unnecessary fees while in others it creates the impression of weakness. The timing of the mediation and the selection of the right mediator is essential. We utilize a number of different mediators who have experience suited to each particular case.
