Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act

The Firm has defended cities, municipalities, and individual city officials in litigation regarding the RLUIPA and First Amendment claims of freedom of religion. In this type of litigation, the Firm was required to immerse itself in religious practices, governmental oversight issues and local zoning laws. Additionally, we exhausted the defenses of absolute and qualified immunity as well as sovereign immunity to such claims. Part of the litigation also required extensive knowledge in local government practices and a complete understanding of Government in the Sunshine as it applies to the local government agencies being sued.
