James K. Parker
James Parker is a partner of the firm and a Martindale-Hubbell AV-rated trial attorney who has been in active litigation practice for thirty-seven years. During that time he has concentrated his efforts as a litigator representing clients in a broad range of disputes involving negligence, personal injury, wrongful death, premises liability, products liability, medical malpractice, professional liability, broker’s errors and omissions, insurance coverage issues, declaratory actions, homeowners associations, condominium associations, construction defects and commercial litigation. James received a Bachelor’s Degree from Florida Technological University (now known as The University of Central Florida) in 1970. Upon graduation from the University of Miami School of Law in 1973, he was admitted to practice before the Florida Bar. While in law school he interned at the United States Attorney’s office in Miami where he gained experience in the areas of both Federal criminal and civil litigation. After graduation from law school, Mr. Parker was appointed an Assistant State Attorney under then State Attorney, Richard Gerstein. He then went into private practice representing clients in all levels of criminal defense matters. In 1976, he joined the law firm of Samuel M. Spatzer, P.A., practicing civil litigation. In 1982 James established his own firm in Coconut Grove, Florida. He became partner of Cohn, Parker & Cohn, P.A. in 1990. In 2004 he joined the Firm to participate in the handling of the firm’s many complex adversarial proceedings. James is admitted to the Florida Bar, U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida and Southern District of Florida and U.S. Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit. He is a member of the Florida Bar, Dade County Bar Association, American Bar Association, DRI and GRI’s Lawyers Professionalism and Ethics Committee and Global Register’s Who’s Who in Executives and Professionals 2006-2007. James is certified by the Supreme Court of Florida as a Circuit Court Mediator and a member of the Florida Academy of Professional Mediators.
