
Erika Y. Marrero Paralegal
Background
Erika Y. Marrero was born in New York City and raised in Miami, Florida. She started her career in the legal field as a receptionist in 2005 and worked her way up to a paralegal position by 2008. She obtained her Paralegal Certificate from FIU in 2010.
Erika has experience handling cases from inception through trial. She has experience with contract disputes, construction defects, claims arising out of Chapter 558 and Chapter 713 of the Florida Statutes, commercial litigation, personal injury, wrongful death, negligent security, maritime, premises liability, property damage, catastrophic vehicular accidents, and other motor vehicle accidents. She has extensive trial experience handling bench and jury trials in state court, federal court and arbitrations. She has also been involved in mock trials. She also has experience with in-house corporate matters and inter-departmental legal functions such as security issues, consumer complaints, marketing regulations and compliance, trademark and copyright infringement issues, and drafting various types of contracts (speaker agreements, non-disclosure agreements, confidentiality agreements).
Erika’s love for the art of writing inspired her interest in the legal field and her community leadership. She is a virtual book club host. She is a spoken word artist and performing poet that shares her art on stages throughout the US. In fact, she was selected to be an opening act for Rupi Kaur during Rupi’s World Tour through the US in June 2022 (out of 4,000 other auditions).
