Background

Thomas F Brink is a Partner in the Firm’s Tampa office. Tom was born in New York, NY and grew up in Greenwich Connecticut. He completed his undergraduate studies at Furman University in 1989 and moved to Atlanta Georgia where he began his career as a licensed Claims Professional with Prudential Property and Casualty. He was transferred to the Tampa Florida office where he handled major property losses and traveled throughout the country as part of the catastrophe team. After over 10 years as a general and multilines insurance adjuster Tom graduated from Stetson University College of Law in 2000 and began his practice in Tampa. Over the last 20 years he has practiced law with national insurance defense firms as well as working as a senior trial attorney for CNA insurance. Tom also served as the Deputy Director of Guardianship Services for the state of Florida.

Today Tom focuses his practice primarily on premises liability, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, lender liability defense, complex commercial litigation, construction defect, toxic torts, employment, housing discrimination, home owner association, and group home/foster care defense. His past experience includes most areas of First and Third party litigation including fraud, arson, bad faith, property, subrogation, errors and omissions, guardianship and elder care issues. He is also a Florida certified mediator and arbitrator.

While attending Stetson University college of law, Tom was awarded a certificate of concentration in Elder Law. He also served on the Lieutenant Governor’s task force on Availability and Affordability of Long Term Care from 1999-2000 to improve elder care in Florida. Tom worked with the Florida Attorney General’s office in the economic crimes and elder protection divisions and with the Florida state senator John Grant in the statewide public guardianship office.

Tom currently serves as an adjunct professor of law at Stetson University College of Law where he has taught for the last 17 years. He has an AV rating with Martindale Hubbell and was named among Florida Trend’s Legal Elite for 2019.
